Naz Aktas, who originally joined the firm in 2019 as a co-op, is now a full-time Mechanical Engineer. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2021.

Naz is originally from Wilmington, NC, and currently lives in Atlanta with her one-year-old black cat, Milo.

Her favorite TV show is The Great British Bake Off, and the TV show she is currently binging is Schitt’s Creek. The best concert she’s ever attended was The Lumineers.

The farthest Naz has been from home is Istanbul, Turkey. Her favorite trip was hiking and skydiving in Interlaken, Switzerland. Her ideal vacation would be to visit Iceland.

When asked why she decided to become an engineer, Naz states, “I chose to become an engineer because it involves a background in math and science, but also gives creative freedom to solve real world problems with tangible results. I’m very happy that working at Newcomb & Boyd has given me the opportunity to apply engineering to impactful and sustainable design!”
