Adam Bare, PE

Adam enjoys being kept on his toes by the challenging, ever-changing dimensions of the A/E/C industry and appreciates the opportunities he has to form close relationships with coworkers and peers. Through listening to the needs of clients and owners, keeping an eye on the big picture, and maintaining open communication, Adam provides sound advice and delivers on his promises.

With 25 years of experience in mechanical engineering design and project management, Adam is skilled in the complexities of HVAC system planning and design, with an emphasis on health care and academic facilities. Adam holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech as well as a Master of Business Administration in Electronic Commerce from Georgia State University. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and serves as a Voting Member for the ASHRAE TC9.10 Laboratory Systems as well as Chair of ASHRAE TC9.10 Laboratory Classification Subcommittee. Adam is also an associate for the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE). He was named a Partner in 2017.

Albert studied Industrial Drafting Studies at the Atlanta Area Technical College.

Amanda Askew, CPD, GPD

With more than 10 years of experience, Amanda is skilled in the design of plumbing systems for new and renovated facilities. Practiced in the approach of sustainable plumbing design, her experience includes over 40 projects for new and renovated facilities, including health care, K-12, corporate, and higher education facilities.

Amanda holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech. She has received certification in Plumbing Design (CPD) and Green Plumbing Design (GPD) from the American Society of Plumbing Engineers.

Andrew Dymek, PE

Andrew’s experience encompasses academic, commercial, health care, and scientific buildings for both the private and public sectors with a particular expertise in the design of complex campus energy, laboratory, and data center facilities. He has 40 years of engineering experience in the design and construction industry, including mechanical engineering, project management, and partner-in-charge responsibilities on more than 630 projects. In addition to collaborating with award-winning architecture and design firms, Andrew has presented internationally on the design of laboratories, sustainability, and energy recovery systems.

Andrew is a Georgia Tech graduate and holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management. Andrew is a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the Rotary Club of Charleston, the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE), the Georgia Biomedical Partnership, the ASHRAE Technical Committee TC 9.10, Laboratory Systems, the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), and the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association (FHEA). Andrew was named a Partner in 2004.

Andrew Strack, PE, CFPS

FIRE PROTECTION

Andrew has 10 years of experience in fire protection engineering of institutional projects. His responsibilities have included fire protection engineering for over 6,400,000 square feet of new and renovated facilities. He is experienced in performing extensive code research, including ICC codes and NFPA codes and standards. Additionally, Andrew is a certified PE in both Fire Protection and Mechanical Engineering.

Andrew is a Georgia Tech graduate with a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Georgia, a Licensed Professional Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) in Georgia, and a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS). Andrew is also a member of the Automatic Fire Alarm Association (AFAA), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE).

Ben has been in leadership and management positions for over 25 years for leading engineering firms and data center organizations. He is an active member of ASHRAE Data Center TC 9.9 developing guidance and standards for the data center environmental industry and an Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer.

Bennett Humphries

Beth Ann holds a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University. She is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Georgia and a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Her publications include “Heat Pump Water Heaters for Energy cost Savings in Commercial Buildings,” published in Engineered Systems in 1994, and “An Experimental Investigation of the Evaporation of Clean Water Surfaces into Moving Air,” for the ASHRAE Journal.

Bo Laraia, RCDD

With 30 years of Information and Communications Technology experience, Bo has particular expertise in design and project management of communications and low voltage solutions for large, complex solutions across numerous vertical markets including K-12, Higher Education, Government, Military, Healthcare, Insurance, Financial, Manufacturing, and other industries. He is skilled in the design of physical networks, convergence of numerous technologies over networks, and assessment, procurement, negotiation, and provisioning of networking and special technologies.

Bo is a graduate of University of Hartford and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems, as well as a Master of Business Administration degree. He is a Registered Communications Designer (RCDD) and a Telecommunications Infrastructure Layout Technician (TLT), as well as a Member of the Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI).

Brandon Nevin

Brandon Westergaard, INCE-USA

Brandon has 5 years of experience in architectural acoustics, sound isolation, mechanical system noise and vibration control and acoustical testing.  His background in recording and digital music gives him a unique perspective on the effects of the built environment on the occupant’s aural experience. Brandon feels that careful design of the acoustic environment can enhance every space.

Brandon earned his master’s degree in Music Technology from Georgia Tech and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He is a member of the Acoustical Society of America, Technical Committee on Architectural Acoustics (TCAA) (ASA), the Acoustical Society of America, Technical Committee on Noise Control (TCNoise) (ASA), and the Institute of Noise Control Engineering (INCE). Additionally, Brandon is an associate member of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) and a part of the firm membership with the National Council of Acoustical Clients (NCAC). He gave his presentation “Effect of Acoustic Computer Model Precision on Auralization Perception” at the 174^th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America in 2017.

Brendan strives to understand the client and their core business needs, provide optimal sustainable solutions, and meet project timelines. As a member of the City of Decatur Environmental Sustainability Board, he is an advocate of advancing sustainability within his community. Brendan has 19 years of experience in mechanical systems design and project management with a focus on sustainability and optimization. To further this effort, he has received multiple certifications from leading industry organizations focused on energy use and sustainable practices.

As Director of Energy and Sustainability, Brendan leads the Energy and Sustainability Group to achieve our clients’ energy and sustainability targets while working collaboratively throughout the process to improve upon those targets to achieve even greater success.

Brendan holds a Master of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, WELL Accredited Professional, and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) by the Association of Energy Engineers; a Certified GeoExchange Designer (CGD) by the Association of Energy Engineers/International Ground Source Heat Pump Association; a Certified Vertical Loop Installer (VI) by the Association of Energy Engineers/International Ground Source Heat Pump Association; and a Certified High-Performance Building Design Professional (HBDP) by ASHRAE. Brett Gilbert, PE

He has been responsible for the design of more than 120 projects. Brett has presented and been published on the topic of the complexities of plumbing design in laboratory spaces and has significant experience with healthcare, aviation and governmental facilities. When designing mechanical systems for our Clients, Brett’s first consideration is to understand the motivation behind the project. He believes in developing creative, solution-oriented designs that address the concerns of Owners and building users.

In addition to her experience with healthcare, mixed-use, and office buildings, she is a Guiding Principles Compliance Professional (GPCP) and proficient in the requirements for multiple third party building rating systems and ASHRAE Standards. She is an expert in helping projects reach their sustainability goal. Danna had the distinct honor of being selected as one of Engineered Systems Magazine’s Top 20 to Watch: Women in HVAC in 2020.

Danna is a Georgia Southern University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. She is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Georgia, a LEED Accredited Professional with a specialty in Building Design + Construction and Interior Design + Construction, and a WELL Accredited Professional. Additionally, Danna is certified as a Guiding Principles Compliance Professional (GPCP) by the Green Building Initiative, a Green Globes Professional (GGP), accredited as a Fitwel Ambassador, and a RESET Air Accredited Professional. David Chandler, PE

David has always loved problem-solving and exploring the unknown. The unknown is his motivation. David loves understanding what motivates a client and what their vision is, so he can help bring the right solution to the problem. As an expert in the design of health care and laboratory buildings, David has more than 25 years of electrical engineering, project management, and partner-in-charge experience on over 460 projects with extensive focus in academic, government, and medical facilities.

David holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of North Georgia. He is also a LEED Accredited Professional, Associate of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE), member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers, Inc. David loves the challenge of balancing the need for a secure environment with the business needs of the client. To him, listening is the most critical activity to understanding the day-to-day operations of the organization that will inhabit the building. Whether preparing vulnerability assessments or designing specialized security systems, the technical details that make for an automated and highly functional system are David’s passion.

David has over 30 years of experience in the design of special low voltage systems for buildings including security, video surveillance, intercom, communications systems, as well as addressing facility hardening and antiterrorism issues. He has presented and published widely on topics relating to facility security, sustainability, communications and audio-visual use. In addition to his security credentials, he is a registered engineer and a LEED Accredited Professional. His expertise has been responsible for the design of over 350 projects for commercial and institutional space both nationally and internationally.

David holds an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from Southern Polytechnic State University. He’s a Board Certified Security Consultant (CSC), Security Management (CPP), and Physical Security Professional (PSP) by ASIS International. Additionally, David is a member of ASIS International (ASIS); the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM); and the International Association of Professional Security Consultants (IAPSC).

Dennis Connelly, CPD

Dennis has 40 years of experience in the design of plumbing systems and project management. His experience covers the range of commercial and institutional facilities, including campuses for academic, governmental and corporate clients. Dennis has been published in the areas of pure water system design and high-rise plumbing. He has been responsible for the plumbing design of more than 570 projects.

Dennis holds an associate degree in Technologies, Drafting Technology from Pensacola Junior College and is certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) by the American Society of Plumbing Engineers. Dennis also serves as a Chapter Officer for the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE), and gave a “Cold Water Systems” presentation at the seminar hosted by the Atlanta Chapter of the ASPE in 2007 in Atlanta, GA. He has written two publications: “Pure Water: A Drop by Drop Process for Selection of Your System,” published in Controlled Environment Magazine in 2006, and “High-Rise Plumbing Design: It’s all the same, right?,” for Plumbing Systems & Design Magazine in 2007.

Devin Yohe, PE

Donny Walker, PE, RCDD

Donny has over 20 years of engineering, project management, and partner-in-charge responsibilities in communications, security and integrated building automation systems. His experience includes aviation facilities, health care buildings, judicial facilities, advanced technology developments, military installations, data centers, mixed-use developments, performing arts facilities and college campuses. With prowess designing technologically sophisticated campuses, his background encompasses over 150 projects specializing in an integrated design with network-enabled systems. Donny leads our Intelligent Building Systems group and presents on this topic at many national conferences.

Donny holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Fiber Optics and Electrical Systems for Buildings from Georgia Tech. He is a member of Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) and the Intelligent Buildings Conference Advisory Council (IBcon). Donny was named a Partner in 2016.

Gladys has over 6 years of experience as an Audio-Visual designer. Not only is she skilled in the design of systems, but Gladys also has experience as a Systems Commissioning Agent, including installation oversight, observation and documentation of base building infrastructure, on-site systems troubleshooting, and client training. Gladys has experience with higher education and corporate facilities.

Gladys holds a bachelor’s degree in family, youth, and community sciences, with a specialization in psychology, from the University of Florida. Gladys is a licensed Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) and a Digital Media Certified Engineer (DMC-E).

Greg Johnson, PE

Greg is passionate about serving our owners and architectural clients by helping them identify and achieve their project goals by collaboratively selecting the best solution specifically for them. With over 30 years of experience in the design and construction industry, Greg has extensive mechanical engineering, project management, and partner-in-charge experience, including the design of more than 540 projects, with an emphasis on laboratory, health care, and higher education facilities. He has spoken and published widely on topics pertaining to sustainable and energy efficient laboratories and health care buildings, and enjoys working with the multiple stakeholders in a University setting and the opportunities these projects bring for innovation and quality.

Greg is a Georgia Tech graduate and holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He is a Certified Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt and a member of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) 2016 Design Requirements Manual (DRM) Review Biocontainment Subcommittee, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE), and the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP). Greg was named a Partner in 2016.

He is also an engineer in the United States Naval Reserve at the rank of Commander.

Jason is a graduate of Georgia Tech, with a master’s degree in Building Construction: Integrated Project Delivery Systems and holds bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering Technology from Georgia Southern University and Electrical Engineering from Southern Polytechnic State University. With more than 30 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, project management, and partner-in-charge of commercial and institutional facilities, Jeff has had responsibilities on more than 270 projects. He has a significant background in the design of energy efficient systems for buildings, particularly in the areas of central utility plants and laboratories.

Jeff holds a Bachelor degree in Architectural Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. Zach began his career at Newcomb & Boyd as a cooperative student. He has 7 years of mechanical engineering design experience for higher education facilities, particularly for laboratories.

Zach hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Georgia. He is an associate of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc. (ASHRAE).
