Welcome Wednesday: Summer 2019 Co-Ops and Interns

Newcomb & Boyd is proud to welcome our new co-ops and interns for Summer 2019. These young men and women have accumulated an impressive amount of experience both academically and personally. They are heavily involved in campus organizations and professional societies, all while also contributing to projects that are developing their practical skills and knowledge in their respective fields of study. Get to know more about them as they contribute to the success of Newcomb & Boyd and embark on their future careers.

Addison Brown

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP
Addison Brown joins Newcomb & Boyd as a Mechanical Engineering co-op. He is enrolled at Georgia Tech and plans to earn his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2021.

Addison is originally from Austin, Texas and currently lives in Atlanta.

In his spare time, Addison enjoys playing basketball, cooking, and traveling. In fact, he has traveled to over 30 countries and even lived in China with his family for four years, where he learned to speak Mandarin. the farthest place he’s been from home was New Zealand and his favorite trip was to Budapest. His ideal vacation would be to visit Switzerland.

At Georgia Tech, Addison is involved with Georgia Tech Motorsports as a Formula SAE race team member, where he designed, built, and competed a custom racecar. He also participates in the Interfraternity Council as a representative for Kappa Sigma Fraternity. In the last school year, he was part of a project team that designed and developed a portable water wheel filtration system for use in developing countries.

 

Dan CohenYves Amougou Headshot

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP
Dan Cohen joins Newcomb & Boyd as a Mechanical Engineering co-op. He attends Georgia Tech and plans to earn his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in May of 2021. On campus, Dan is involved with AssisTech, the Freshman Council, and Chi Fraternity.

Dan hails from Potomac, Maryland and currently lives in Atlanta with his dog, Ferris. In his free time, Dan loves playing soccer and is part of the Georgia Tech Club Soccer team. He has even met renowned soccer player Harry Kane. If time and money weren’t an issue, Dan would take up archery.

For a school project, he was part of a team that designed a therapy trike, a scooter/tricycle designed to strengthen arm muscle of kids with Muscular Dystrophy.

The furthest place Dan has been from home was Israel. In fact, he is fluent in Hebrew. His dream vacation would be to visit Brazil during Carnival.

 

Will Ezrine

PLUMBING ENGINEERING CO-OP
Will Ezrine joins Newcomb & Boyd as a Plumbing Engineering co-op. He is a currently a student at the University of Georgia, where he plans to earn his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in December of 2020. On campus, Will is an active member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity and a volunteer for Extra Special People, Inc., an organization benefiting children with intellectual disabilities.

Will is originally from and currently resides in Milton, Georgia, with his two golden retrievers, Caesar and Maisey. In his spare time, Will enjoys watching and playing sports, being outdoors, fishing, and backpacking. In fact, he loves being outdoors so much that if time and money weren’t an issue, he would be a National Geographic photographer.

 

Larkin Gillespie

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CO-OPSokha Bun Headshot
Larkin Gillespie joins Newcomb & Boyd as a Mechanical Engineering co-op. She is enrolled at Georgia Tech and plans to earn her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in May of 2021. At Georgia Tech, Larkin is an active member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, the Student Alumni Association, and the Society of Women Engineers. She was on the Finance team for Engineers Without Borders Jamaica, where she helped organize on-campus tabling events selling food to raise money for the Jamaica Water Project.

Larkin is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but now calls Atlanta her home. In her spare time, Larkin enjoys hanging out with friends and going on walks around the city with her dog, an 11-year old Boston Terrier named, Mimzy. If time and money weren’t an issue, the hobby she would pursue is surfing.

 

Amare GuthrieTal Deshe Headshot

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP
Amare Guthrie joins Newcomb & Boyd as an Electrical Engineering co-op. He is currently attending Kennesaw State University, where he plans to earn his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in the summer of 202. On campus, he is an active member of the National Society of Black Engineers.

Amare is originally from and currently lives in Douglasville, Georgia. His hobbies include playing soccer, gaming, and watching Netflix. He is currently binge-watching the TV show, Gotham.

If time and money weren’t an issue, Amare’s hobby would be traveling. Amare is Jamaican and considers his trip to the country as his most favorite. The furthest place he’s been from home was Canada and his ideal vacation would be to take a cruise around the Caribbean.

Amare describes himself as quiet, competitive, and curious. His favorite quote is, “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.”

Joe HackmanTal Deshe Headshot

ACOUSTICS INTERN
Joe Hackman joins Newcomb & Boyd as an Acoustics co-op. He is currently attending Georgia Tech and plans to earn his Bachelor of Science in Music Technology with an Electrical and Computer Engineering Concentration in May of 2022.

Joe is originally from Hockessin, Deleware and currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia. His hobbies include collecting albums, hiking, camping, and cooking. Joe is most passionate about music and plays the drums . He is an active Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He managed and led a group of Scouts and Adult Leaders to construct a 16-foot long bridge and three walking platforms for an Eagle Scout project.

Joe enjoys traveling, especially his favorite annual trips to the Jersey Shore with his family. The furthest he’s been from home is Orlando, Florida. If time and money weren’t an issue, the hobby that Joe would pursue would be backpacking.

 

Levy Johnson

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP
Levy Johnson joins Newcomb & Boyd as an Electrical Engineering co-op. He is currently attending Kennesaw State University and plans to earn his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in May of 2021. He is actively involved in the Electrical Engineering department, where he works as a Student Assistant.

Levy’s hometown is Savannah, Georgia, and he currently lives in Marietta. When he’s not busy with school, Levy enjoys going to the batting cages, playing basketball, and watching Netflix. He is currently binge-watching the TV show, Dexter. If time and money weren’t an issue, he would attend all the games of his favorite professional sports teams, including the Eagles, Lakers, and Dodgers.

Levy’s favorite vacation was a three-day music festival in Miami, Florida, and his ideal vacation would be taking a cruise to the Caribbean Islands. The furthest he’s been from home was New Orleans, LA.

 

Sari Leff

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP
Sari joins Newcomb & Boyd as a Mechanical Engineering co-op. She is currently enrolled at the University of Georgia and plans to earn her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in May of 2020. On campus, Sari is an active member of Engineers Without Borders, Society of Women Engineers, and UGA Data for Good, a student organization focused on teaching and cultivating programming and data science skills for social justice initiatives. She volunteers with a mentorship program for local middle and high school girls to encourage STEM involvement and enthusiasm for careers in engineering.

Sari is originally from and currently lives in Marietta, Georgia with her two dogs, a 10-year-old Shih-Tzu named Oliver, and a 6-month-old Terrier mix named Franklin.

In her spare time, Sari loves cooking, gardening, reading, painting, and backpacking. She loves rock climbing and is even on the Climbing Wall staff for UGA’s Recreational Sports. If time and money weren’t an issue, she would get her Scuba diving certification and go on dives.

The furthest place Sari has been from home is the Middle East, and her favorite trip was when she backpacked in Canyonlands National Park, Utah. Her ideal vacation would be to hike volcanoes in Iceland.

 

Burke Martin

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING INTERN
Burke Martin joins Newcomb & Boyd as a Mechanical Engineering Intern. He is enrolled at The Unversity of Alabama and earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2018. He is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration and plans to graduate December of 2019.

Burke is originally from and currently resides in Atlanta with his two pets, a 6-year-old Black Lab named Camp, and a 1-year-old Black Lab/Boxer mix named River.

In his free time, Burke enjoys outdoor activities, such as mountain biking and whitewater kayaking. He is an active member of the Alabama Kayak Club at the University of Alabama. Burke is an avid jetsetter and has been to 6 continents and over 25 different countries. He studied abroad in Torino, Italy and participated in a leadership program in Santiago, Chile.

In school, Burke is a part of the Honors College and was a former Student Mentor and member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. For his senior design project, he led a team that designed and built prototypes for an easy-to-operate bathroom stall lock for users with Parkinson’s disease. The prototype is currently in the early stages of the patent approval process.

Zoe Nolton

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP
Zoe Nolton joins Newcomb & Boyd as a Mechanical Engineering co-op. She is enrolled at the University of Georgia and plans to earn her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and German in 2022.

Zoe calls Johns Creek her hometown and currently resides there with her 7-year-old German Shepherd, Koda.

In her spare time, Zoe enjoys gardening, playing tennis, and reading. In fact, the two things she would bring with her to a deserted island would be a book and a guitar.

Zoe describes herself as passionate, friendly, and creative. She lives by the adage, “Don’t work hard, work smart.”

 

Suyash Rajesh

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP
Suyash Rajesh joins Newcomb & Boyd as a Mechanical Engineering co-op. He is attending Georgia Tech and plans to earn his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in May of 2022. He is the recipient of the prestigious A. James Clark Scholarship for the College of Engineering.

Suyash calls Kennesaw Georgia his hometown and currently resides there with his 5-month-old Corgi, Beast. In his spare time, Suyash enjoys building PCs and collecting manga and sneakers. In fact, if time and money weren’t an issue, he would delve himself into collecting a plethora of books, comics, and manga. He currently enjoys binge-listening to The Joe Budden Podcast.

The furthest he’s traveled from home was India, where he has tried the best thing he’s ever eaten: kebabs. His favorite vacation was when he visited Yosemite, however, his ideal vacation would be to spend a week in New York City.

Suyash is an engaged team member of Georgia Tech Solar Racing where he helped design and build the frame of a student-made solar car. He is also the Secretary of the Georgia Tech Esports Club, a collegiate gaming organization.

 

Alex Thackery

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CO-OP
Alex Thackery joins Newcomb & Boyd as an Electrical Engineering co-op. He is currently enrolled at Georgia Southern University and plans to earn his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2022.

Alex is originally from Kennesaw and currently resides there.

His hobbies include playing the piano, video games, and his hidden talent of juggling. If time and money weren’t an issue, the hobby he would pursue is playing the guitar.

On campus, Alex is an active member of the Intramural Ultimate Frisbee and Softball teams.

The furthest place Alex has been from home is on a cruise to the Florida Keys, and his favorite trip was visiting Daytona Beach as a kid.
