Derek joins Newcomb & Boyd as a Mechanical Engineer. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering and Design from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in December of 2018.

Derek is originally from Mahomet, IL and currently lives in Atlanta.

The TV show he is currently binging is called, Mar de plástico, a Spanish crime drama that helps him practice his Spanish. The best concerts he attended were the Lollapalooza music festivals in 2014 and 2015.

The farthest Derek has traveled from home is Cozumel, Mexico, and his favorite trip was hiking with friends in Glacier National Park, MT. His ideal vacation would be anything that involves spending time with friends.

While living in Illinois, Derek was the Junior Varsity Head Coach of the Illinois Men’s Rugby team, a college club team that belongs to the D1-A Conference and associated with the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Additionally, he served as the team’s treasurer, helping to coordinate all the finances and support from school organizations and alumni.
