West Ashley High School

The two story academic wing is built around two interior courtyards to allow for windows in every classroom and maximize natural light throughout the facility. The media center includes a computer laboratory that accommodates fifty students. The activity wing houses an 800 seat auditorium; a 2,500 seat gymnasium; physical education and fine arts rooms; a wrestling room; weight room; bank; choral rooms; practice space; and offices. A 10,700 square foot commons area serves as a cafeteria by day and a lobby for performances and competitions at night. West Ashley High School serves 2,100 Charleston County students.


Audio-visual systems, including video systems and an audio-visual control system for the auditorium, as well as an audio system for the main and auxiliary gymnasiums, football/baseball stadium, field house, and main theatre. The facility also includes a broadband headend system and classroom intercom and paging systems.
