Replacement of two centrifugal chillers, primary chilled water pumps, condenser water pumps, and roof-mounted cooling towers serving the Library South and Classroom South Buildings. This project utilized 3-D laser scanning of the basement mechanical room to accurately depict piping, valves, and equipment on the new work drawings. This step provided greater accuracy than traditional field measurements and was done without any piping as-built or record drawings. New control sequences were also provided for optimum energy savings from variable frequency drives on chillers, condenser water pumps, secondary chilled water pumps, and cooling towers. Construction was completed while maintaining continuous chilled water flow to the campus data center from an interconnected air-cooled chiller.
